The proposed changes to Crackerjack, which include the relocation of dining areas and the
establishment of a small-batch distillery, have been carefully considered to align with the intent and
desired outcomes outlined in Section 6.6.1.2 Purpose and Overall Outcomes of the Recreation and
Open Space Zone Code within the Noosa Plan 2020.
The inclusion of a small-batch distillery within the development provides a unique opportunity to
diversify the current offerings at the venue. The relocation of dining areas ensures that Crackerjack
provides a more functional for both patrons and bowlers, as well as mitigating any perceived noise
impacts on the adjacent residential uses.
The proposed changes do not result in an increase of use area not intensification of use. The existing
car parking infrastructure is sufficient to the demand and use area resulting in minimal, if any,
disruption to surrounding the areas. The sport and recreational use is located in a suitable area, and
the proposed design enables an associated noise impacts to be controlled by the management
practices as evidenced in the Acoustic report (Appendix B).
The food and drink use components of the proposed development do not impact of the supply,
quality or function of the outdoor recreational use (bowling greens), and are essential to the bowling
club’s financial viability.
