5.0 ASSESSMENT OF LANDFILL EXPANSION
5.1 Noosa Plan
As part of this revision to the report, a code assessment against the relevant performance and
acceptable outcomes of the Biodiversity, Waterways and Wetlands Overlay Code is provided in
Table 5. This is in response to Council’s Information Request, dated 18 th May 2023 for
application no. 132005.638.02.
Under the Noosa Plan 2020 the site is mapped (see Figure 10) under the Biodiversity, Waterways
and Wetlands Overlay as follows:
• MSES Environmental Values.
• Area of Biodiversity Significance.
It is noted that the overlay maps a Waterway and Riparian Buffer Area approximately 30m to the
north of the proposed clearing.
FIGURE 10: Biodiversity Overlay
Overall, the works will result in the clearing of 1.02 hectares of remnant vegetation which is in a
generally degraded condition associated with stormwater inputs and associated Singapore Daisy
infestation. The adjacent vegetation to the north will be protected and managed to maintain the
ecological values present, including fauna habitat for listed species. The management of works
and operation of the landfill will include measures to protect the adjacent environmental values of
surface waters, groundwaters, native flora and fauna. The provision of an offset area will also
mitigate impacts resulting from the works.
