Appendix I - Bushfire Hazard Report
23
Adjacent Land to the South
Adjoining the southern boundary of the site is the Bruce Highway road corridor. This corridor is
approximately 180 m wide and is considered to provide an adequate buffer/break to any bushfire risk
that may be associated with the rural residential properties on the opposite side of the highway. On
this basis, a bushfire hazard score has not been calculated for land to the south of the site.
Table 5, below, summarises the potential bushfire hazard of the lands surrounding the subject site
and provides a classification in accordance with the SPP1/03 Guideline – Mitigating the Adverse
Impacts of Flood, Bushfire and Landslide Appendix 3. Slope calculations for the surrounding lands
are shown in the calculation sheet attached in Appendix B. The potential bushfire hazard on the site
and surrounding lands, including Bushfire Hazard Buffer Areas, are illustrated in Figure 8, below.

Note:
* Bushfire risks on lands to the east and north are actively managed by QPWS and, therefore, the Bushfire
Hazards for these lands are likely to be lower than those calculated.
It was evident from the assessment of adjacent lands that the bushfire risk on surrounding properties
was Medium to the north, east and west. Importantly, however, QPWS are proactively managing the
risk of Bushfire from the National Park to the north and the State Forest on adjacent land to the east
and the actual bushfire hazard associated with these lands is likely to be lower than those calculated.
