           POLICY BACKGROUND & SCOPE

           The purpose of this policy is to set out the minimum service levels for waste and recycling
           collection services and to define the criteria for exemption of a waste service and the provision of
           an infirm waste service.

           COUNCIL POLICY

           Waste collection is an essential service provided by council. Council has a legal obligation to
           provide a waste collection service in order to minimise health risks and ensure that waste is
           disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
           Council has determined criteria for the following:
           e  Minimal service levels for waste and recycling collections
           e  Exemption from a waste and recycling collection service and
           e  Provision of a waste and recycling service for infirm persons.

           MINIMUM WASTE COLLECTION SERVICES

           All premises within the area serviced by the Waste Collection Contractor, (where the collection
           vehicle passes the property), must receive a minimum waste collection service, unless exempted
           from service as detailed under this policy. The minimum waste collection service is determined by
           the type of premises as detailed below.
