GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 15 DECEMBER 2014
Previous Council Consideration
Council has adopted the Noosa Waters lock and weir levy each year as part of its annual budget
process.
Finance & Risk
The current surplus of $731,873 is not required. There is a slight risk of legal challenge to how
Council has built up the surplus over time but there is no risk that the levy was ever unlawful. To
ensure that Council treats the distribution of the surplus correctly, it is important to follow the
provisions of the Local Government Regulation and the advice from King and Co in order to
follow the correct process.
