through to the opposite end of the pedestrian link. Tables and seating are dotted along its pathway
encouraging diners to enjoy the natural surrounds as they eat, thus allowing the link to become a place 5
to stop, linger and appreciate.
The architectural form blurs the line between built form and forest through the use of; light-weight
timber structure, open or glass louvered sides for cross ventilation and undisturbed views of the forest,
and dappled filtered light which mimics the natural light and shadows of the tree canopies. Overall the
Pedestrian Link’s spaces have been crafted to create a sensuous experience while being immersed
within the Covenant J forest.
Building form and scale
The development facilitates a journey through the forest to community focused outdoor spaces arriving
at the shopping experience. Building forms have drawn inspiration from natural landforms; flora and
local architecture which are unique to Noosa and its community. The overall building form has a variety
of scales with the larger forms dissolving into the forest backdrop and the smaller civic spaces
addressed by lightweight open and active pavilions.
The Noosa Civic expansion reinvigorates the existing development, connecting pathways, landscape and
forest to reflect the unique spirit of the Noosa location. By celebrating climate and natural surrounds,
feathering built edges and framing views in and out, the Noosa Civic expansion will connect people to the
forest and create a sensuous architectural experience which will enhance the Noosa Shire Business Centre.
