SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 DECEMBER 2018
Tourism Noosa Annual Report
There are a number of key issues in the annual report that are of note:
Focus on interstate and overseas markets to dive yield
The annual report discloses that interstate visitor spend, numbers and nights all achieved record
levels i.e:
Spend up 6% to $829.4M
Overnight visitor numbers up 2.6% to 1.069M
Number of nights up 0.05% to 4.7M
(Note that all statistics are based on the 12-month period ending March 2018. Statistics are drawn
from Tourism Research Australia survey data specific to the Noosa Shire.)
The “value over volume” strategy appears to be working well and is driving increased yield. Spend
is increasing at a faster rate than visitor numbers and visitor nights which indicates that higher
yields are being achieved (see below).
