REPORT
The purpose of this report is to present the draft Community Health and Wellbeing Plan 2019-2024
(the Plan) to Council for consideration and seek approval to undertake community consultation
regarding the Plan.
Background
In 2015, Noosa Council endorsed the Noosa Social Strategy (2016) which included the theme:
“Active and Healthy Communities”. The development of a Community Health and Wellbeing Plan
was a key action to be delivered under this theme.
In 2017, Council’s Community Services Department commenced the process to develop a
Community Health and Wellbeing Plan.
The Plan reviewed Council’s current legislative health protection roles and assessed opportunities
and options for Council to support the preventative health strategies and objectives of the World
Health Organization (WHO), and the Commonwealth and Queensland Health Departments.
The Plan also identified the various roles key stakeholders (including Council) currently have within
the broad health sector, and how these key stakeholders can better work together to achieve
positive community health and wellbeing outcomes.
