EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Not applicable.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Manager Design Services to the Infrastructure & Services
Committee Meeting dated 22 July 2014 and adopt a new fee of $400 for releasing non card
holders from the Noosa Waters Canal system via the lock.
REPORT
During discussions with the Noosa Waters Residents Association, an issue was raised with
regard to non-cardholders gaining access to the Lake system and then finding that they cannot
exit.
In these situations, it has involved a call out of Council staff and currently there is no way to
recover the cost of staff time noting that these are often out of normal hours.
The Association agreed that a release fee equivalent to the cost of the call-out would be
acceptable.
To deter these actions, it is proposed to erect signage on both sides of the lock along the lines of
“Restricted access, cardholders only. Release fee of $400 applies. For release call xxxx xxx xxx”.
Showing the dollar amount on the signage is considered appropriate in this case as a deterrent.
Previous Council Consideration
Nil.
Finance & Risk
Signage costs of $400 will be recouped over time.
