                               Ecological Assessment – Attunga Heights



Ecological Significance (HES) or of General Ecological Significance (GES) for the purposes
of the environmental values.

WPAs in the Great Barrier Reef catchments consist of two (2) parts: a WPA wetland and a
surrounding assessable development trigger area. WPA wetlands are wetlands in Great
Barrier Reef catchments that have been designated as being of HES. WPA wetlands have a
100m assessable development trigger area in urban zones and 500m assessable
development trigger area in rural zones.

Within WPAs certain types of development or development involving high impact
earthworks (i.e. earthworks that drain, fill or divert water) are made assessable under
Schedule 3 of the Sustainable Planning Regulation 2009. The policy outcome and
assessment criteria for assessing these applications are described in the State Planning
Policy 4/11: Protection Wetlands of High Ecological Significance in Great Barrier Reef
Catchments (SPP for GBR Wetlands).


2.2.3.6 SPRP and SPP Koala Habitat Mapping
SPRP and SPP koala habitat mapping show area within South East Queensland that must
incorporate koala conservation and habitat protection outcomes into planning decisions.
The koala habitat values mapping identifies areas of bushland habitat, areas suitable for
rehabilitation and other areas of value.


2.2.3.7 Coastal Hazard Mapping
Queensland coastal hazard areas maps show areas within the Coastal Management District
that are vulnerable to coastal erosion or storm tide inundation.



2.3 Results
2.3.1 Previous Surveys
Previous fauna surveys conducted by WBM Oceanics (2001) on the Bayview-Noosa
development immediately adjacent to the subject site were reviewed. During surveys
conducted by WBM Oceanics five (5) significant species were recorded in the locality as
shown in TABLE 1. Full species records are presented in APPENDIX 1.
