3.1.3 WildNET search
DES/DSITI has compiled a database of wildlife sightings and listings for all flora and fauna
species within a designated area. A database search was conducted for all listed species
that have been identified within one kilometre of the survey area. Five EVNT-listed fauna
species and one listed flora species were listed on WildNET as shown in Table 5.

3.1.4 EPBC Protected Matters
A report was generated using the EPBC Act Protected Matters Search Tool (PMST). It noted
that there is potential for 40 Threatened Species, 17 Migratory Species and 23 Marine
Species to occur within one kilometre of the survey area. An assessment of the likelihood
of occurrence of each of these species occurring in the impact area and buffer was
conducted by the Senior Ecologist. The Ecologist refined the list down to 18 fauna species
and three flora species which were considered ‘possible’, ‘likely’, or ‘known’ to occur within
the survey area based on extensive knowledge of species habitat preferences and local
occurrence. Comments relating to the likelihood of occurrence of the listed fauna species
are provided in Table 6. Comments relating to the likelihood of occurrence of the flora
species are provided in section 3.2.3.
The EPBC search tool also indicates there is potential for two listed Ecological Communities
to occur within one kilometre of the survey area: Coastal Swamp Oak (Casuarina glauca)
Forest of New South Wales and South East Queensland, which is listed as Endangered,
and Lowland Rainforest of Subtropical Australia, which is listed as Critically Endangered.
Neither of these communities occur in the impact area or buffer.
3.1.5 Protected Plants Flora Survey Trigger map
The Protected Plants Survey Trigger Map is a tool provided by DES in order to identify areas
that are within a two kilometre radius of a validated record of an EVNT-listed plant and/or
that contain habitat likely to have an endangered plant species. The trigger map is used to
determine when a flora survey needs to meet the requirements of the Flora Survey
Guidelines – Protected Plants (NCA, 1992). Figure 4 shows that the survey area lies within
a high risk area and as such, is subject to the provisions of the guidelines.
