Figure 6.6 Location of viewpoint 1 Tablelands Road in relation to the proposed monopole
Figure 6.7 Cross section showing Tablelands Road in relation to the proposed monopole
Table 6-1 Assessment of Viewpoint 1: View from Tablelands Road
Description of the view This view shows an unsealed road providing access to the proposal site from Tablelands Road.
The site and neighbouring property are surrounded by dense tracts of mature bushland
(approximately 10-15 metres tall), enclosing views from Tablelands Road. The land gently rises
along the access road towards the proposal site, and also rises steeply to the right of this view to
a local highpoint. The bushland along the road and within the private properties enclose views to
the proposal site.
Description of the During construction, vehicles would be seen travelling along the access road and accessing the
Proposal site at Tablelands Road. The access road would be retained and extended 25 metres to the
southeast, requiring some vegetation trimming in the background of the view. Construction
activity at the tower site would not be seen from this location, due to intervening vegetation,
although tall machinery may be glimpsed above the treeline during installation of the monopole.
During operation, the view would include the upgraded access road in the middle ground of the
view. the monopole would be mostly screened by the intervening vegetation with some possible
glimpses to the upper portion of the tower. (refer Figure 6-5).
Visual Sensitivity This view has a neighbourhood visual sensitivity as it is located on a rural road and represents
views from a nearby rural dwelling.
Visual Modification Level of modification (Low, Medium, High) L M H
Distance 100 metres, however the monopole would not be visible
Scale Small to medium scale tower (36m), however, the monopole would not be
visible
Landform & contrast Ridgeline with dense tree cover has a high visual absorption capacity
Scale of land use Relatively thin structure and of moderate size
Backdrop The tower would be seen within a vegetated setting
Form Simple vertical structure
The monopole would be largely screened by intervening vegetation, however
glimpses to the upper section of the tower may be seen from this location.
The entry driveway would be extended and may also offer glimpses into the
site. Overall, there would be a low level of modification to the view.
Level of Impact Minor adverse visual impact
