Table 6-7 Assessment of Viewpoint 6: View north from King Road
Description of the view From this section of Kings Road, the landform descends north towards the Six Mile Creek valley.
The North Coast rail corridor and Chris Kenny Park can be seen in the foreground of this view.
The middle ground includes an undulating rural landscape consisting of acreage lifestyle
properties set within a rural bushland setting. The densely vegetated ridges and hillsides either
side of Tablelands Road are visible in the background of view, enclosing views to the proposal
site. The existing 30-metre-high monopole on Tablelands Road is not perceptible from this
location, due to the distance and intervening elements.
Description of the The monopole would be located on the rear side of the intervening vegetated ridge, in the
Proposal background of view, approximately 2 kilometres from this location. The upper portion of the
tower would rise above the vegetation on the site and be viewed against the more elevated
vegetated ridgelines of the national park. Activity during construction would be screened by
vegetation, although the top of tall machinery may rise above the treeline during installation of
the monopole.
Visual Sensitivity This view has a local visual sensitivity as it is from the local centre of Cooran.
Visual Modification Level of modification (Low, Medium, High) L M H
Distance The monopole would be visible in the background of the view and comprise a
small part of the visible field of view. It is likely that this element would be
imperceptible at this distance.
Scale The scale small compared with other built elements in the view including
powerlines, overhead rail infrastructure etc.
Landform & contrast The landform is hilly and undulating assisting in the absorption of a vertical
element in this view.
Scale of land use Large tracts of vegetation interspersed with small scale rural land uses with
the capacity to absorb the proposal.
Backdrop Viewed against a backdrop of vegetation with possible glimpse above the
treees.
Form The vertical element in an otherwise curved and rolling landscape
Overall, the monopole would be largely screened by vegetation with only a
and would be imperceptible in the background of this view. This view includes
several other built elements adding to the visual absorption capacity.
There would be a no perceived modification of the view.
Level of Impact Negligible visual impact
