The site is located in the Noosa Council coastal suburb of Noosa Heads and is currently
occupied by a residential house proposed for demolition to make way for the construction of
new residential dwellings. Bottlebrush Avenue is now and has over the past few years seen a
number of development approvals where the existing property is redeveloped into multi-
dwelling residential properties with new landscaping and reconfigured road reserves.

The subject vegetation located on the council road reserve verge appears to have been
planted approximately 30 years ago; likely when the current dwelling was constructed. The
trees are a mix of native and exotic species. The most significant tree is a maturing Bribie
Island Pine located in the garden bed of the road junction with Berrima Row.

With the required new retaining wall structure and new driveway access utilising the
Bottlebrush Avenue frontage, the focus for retained trees is on the bend with Berrima Row
and Bottlebrush Avenue. This offers the retention of the best trees and provides amenity
treescape to both streets and the wider local tree canopy.

It was noted on site that the edge of the road does not have a formal kerb. Council has
requested that a kerb be constructed as part of the road reserve infrastructure upgrade. It is
anticipated that due to the proximity of the Bribie Island Pine and the edge of the road the
required excavation works will conflict with the tree’s Structural Roots. If this is to occur, the
tree will suffer major root loss and the effects will likely cause the tree to decline in health and
                 structure.

Council has been approached and has agreed the removal of the requirement for a kerb and
channel to promote the tree’s long-term retention.
