Noosa Spring Golf Course is a members-only golf course located on the southern side of the
Noosa Council suburb of Noosa Heads adjacent to Lake Weyba. The fairways are divided by
densely treed corridors which are a mix of remnant, natives, and augmented by planted
landscape feature trees.

This is the first formal tree assessment to be carried out at the golf course and as such it
focused on risk mitigation. The past regime of maintenance for trees appears to have been
sporadic, with a focus on high-use areas, this was evidenced by the number of dead and
defective trees recorded in this assessment throughout the course areas.

Information regarding woody weed removal, planting, and care of established trees to better
their health is offered and can be used to proactively manage the course trees between
assessments. In areas where it is suitable, the mulch from the works undertaken can be
spread beneath the retained trees throughout the course.

Generally, without the presence of a major defect, the ISA risk matrix records a 'Low risk' score
rating. Any tree that receives a 'Moderate' risk score requires mitigation and preventative
measures are recommended to manage the risk to reduce the score to an acceptable ‘Low
risk’ score. There is also a large difference between the definition of ‘Minor’ and ‘Significant’
in the Consequences of Failure. Consideration must be made as to whether any moderate
property damage or minor personal injury can be tolerated.

Due to the site being golf course grounds, the occupancy has been assessed for most trees
as being “Frequent.”

The weather at the time of the assessment was clear with a light breeze. The site conditions
were dry underfoot after recent heavy seasonal rains, good access was available to the areas
of the site that were assessed.
