Manure Disposal Mr Milligan would be aware already of land slips that occur in this area after heavy rain. Metres of chicken/sawdust manure even composted would just wash straight down the steep slopes into the waterways and pollute the water. Not all of Mr Milligan’s land is terraced. We are not talking about a couple of trailer loads of manure here. Too much chicken manure would also be detrimental to the health of his fruit trees and of course it would be cheaper to spread and not bag. Cheaper still to have in piles at the mercy of the weather. Will it be dampened down? Health Concerns In dry weather the manure dust would be blown away. Too bad for all of us on tank water i.e. everyone. Those people with asthma would suffer, not to mention the Hay fevers bought on by the dust too. Employment Would backpackers be employed to be cost effective? This is how he employs seasonal workers now at this farm. We are concerned that Mr Milligan sounds very conscientious and environmentally friendly but suspect that Mr Milligan may be happy to wait until after permission is granted and then do precisely what he had planned to do in the first place ~ after all it is his land to do with what he wants regardless, isn’t that right? Will there be follow up and ongoing audits done by independent health inspectors if permission is given? Yours Sincerely, Mr B & Mrs S Power 519 Belli Creek Road COOROY 4563 Phone : 5447 7153
