PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 10 AUGUST 2021

e transition some illegally moored or anchored vessels out of the river over a 2
       year maximum timeframe
« convert to temporary visitor moorings (today, there are no courtesy or visitor
moorings - pink buoys, in the Noosa River)
« convert to another category of mooring when a clear public need is identified
« ultimately be removed entirely out of the river
It is felt that the ultimate number and location of permanent private moorings (yellow
buoys) will be better determined in the midterm once the public better understand and
sees the results on the river following the implementation of the NRSAC’s
recommendations.
Eco-friendly moorings
The use of a seagrass-fniendly mooring to protect marine life is mandatory. When
moorings become vacant they should be replaced with the seagrass eco-friendly type
or another variant of an eco-friendly mooring if the circumstances in the specific
location mandate use of another type of eco-mooring.
The NRSAC fully supports all of the provisions of the Transport Infrastructure
(Waterways Management) Regulation 2012 as they pertain to liveaboard vessels. The
committee further recommends greater and more visible policing and management of
these regulations.
