9       CONCLUSION
NBN Co considers that the proposed facility, comprising a 40 m high monopole with attached
antennas and equipment shelter has been sited in the most appropriate location whilst ensuring
adequate coverage is achieved.

NBN Co has undertaken a thorough analysis of potential site alternatives and during this process
has attempted to select the most appropriate site. Factors such as the ability to meet the required
coverage and technical objectives, opportunities for co-location, the surrounding landscape and
community needs have all been carefully considered as part of this selection process.

The facility has been strategically sited and designed to minimise visibility within the surrounding
environment as much as practicable. In this regard NBN Co considers that the proposal satisfies
the requirements of the Code, whilst also providing the Cootharaba community with access to
fast, affordable and reliable internet access.

NBN Co considers that the proposal is also consistent with the stated objectives and desired
environmental outcomes of the Planning Scheme. It is considered that the proposal will provide
an important community benefit to Cootharaba by providing coordinated and open access shared
communication infrastructure, and therefore greatly improved fixed wireless internet coverage
within the local area. Reliable internet access is now more than ever an integral component of
daily life and the facility is anticipated to have significant social and economic benefits for the local
community.
