DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION MCU16 0079.02
Application for Variation of DA Section 4 No 3 — Increase EGM’s from 195 to 210
As you are aware there has been previous correspondence between the Club and Council
regarding the number of Electronic Gaming Machines (EGMs) permitted to be operated at the
Tewantin Noosa RSL & Citizens Memorial Club Inc. (TNRSL).
The maximum permitted number of EGMs in Licensed Community Clubs is controlled by the
Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation (OLGR) and is set at 300. There is a robust and
intensive application process that must be undertaken whenever a venue applies for
entitlements, covering matters such as; demand, community benefit, impact on amenity,
demographics of the catchment area, traffic, crime, etc.
Whilst the TNRSL falls into the Community Club Licence category, the Council has |
overridden the control measures of the OLGR and embedded a condition in the DA approval
limiting the maximum number of permitted EGMs at a number significantly lower than that
which can be approved, by the Commissioner. |
The Club was previously limited to 180 EGMs and on application to Council in October
2018, this was varied to 195 (which had previously been approved by OLGR). |
At the same time the Club sought to have the Condition removed from the DA to allow it to |
consider increases in the future without the need to re-apply to Council. This request was
declined in correspondence dated 26 October 2018 from Kerri Coyle, Manager, Development
Assessment.
The OLGR has since approved a further 15 entitlements for the Club increasing the permitted
number of EGMs to 210.
The purpose of this correspondence is twofold.
In the first instance (the short term) we are seeking a Variation to the existing Condition in the
DA, changing the maximum permitted number of EGMs from 195 to 210. |
|
Approval of this application will allow the Club to be complaint with Council Planning
approvals,
