PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 8 OCTOBER 2019
Subordinate Local Law No. 4 (local Government Controlled Areas, Facilities and Road) 2015
The draft local law consolidates current advertising device provisions operating under The Noosa
Plan and two local laws. Current provisions remain largely unchanged in the draft local law, with
total signage allowances per tenancy of up to 10sqm and up to 4sqm for individual signs
remaining unchanged.
Notwithstanding this, the draft local law also proposed to introduce the following key changes:
introduction of an approvals process for new wall, window, pole, pylon, freestanding and all
illuminated sign types;
introduction of an annual licence renewal and fee for all wall, window, pole, pylon,
freestanding and illuminated signs, including existing signage;
prohibition of A-frame sandwich boards, tear drop flags and real estate directional signs;
introduction of new sign allowances for an LCD digital window sign, development
construction hoarding, multi-tenancy arcades signs, sports sign on days and prize home
signs;
introduction of signage requirements for shopping centres; and
amendments to the definition of sign face area.
