Development Application MCU13/0069
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the development application for outdoor dining in Noosa Sound Park. The Noosa Shores Body Corporate Committee represents the 30 owners of Noosa Shores Resort which is adjacent to Sound Park and in direct line-of-sight of the proposed outdoor dining facilities.
The restaurants affected by the application are considered to be good neighbours and the owners of the affected units at Noosa Shores generally support the use of a small portion of the park for outdoor dining. However, we do have concerns around the potential for noise disturbance.
There have been several incidents of noise disturbance over the years, one of which led to an official complaint. We think some simple measures could be taken to limit the noise emanating from the restaurants, particularly later in the evenings, thereby maintaining the outdoor dining facilities without having a negative impact on Noosa Shores residents.
The building closest to the restaurants at Noosa Shores Resort has 15 units that have a total of 30 bedrooms facing the park. There are also two balconies overlooking the park in direct line-of-sight to the proposed dining areas. There is clearly potential for excessive noise from these dining facilities to have a negative impact on these units, particularly after 10pm at night when many people are trying to sleep.
We request that Council consider imposing noise control measures should the development application be approved. Simple measures to be considered could include:
No music, amplified or otherwise, in the outdoor areas, and
No use of the outdoor areas after 10pm at night.
These measures should act to limit noise during the day, and particularly after 10pm. Council may also have other measures to further control and limit noise.

Once again, we thank Council for the opportunity to comment on this development application and we trust that Council will duly consider our suggestions.
Regards,
Noosa Shores Body Corporate Committee
