Dear Mr Murphy,
Submission in opposition to the Development Application
MCU 16/0153 & REC16/0041
I am writing to oppose the approval of the Development Application MCU
16/0153 and REC16/0041.
In particular, the Application contravenes the Noosa Town Plan and will destroy
the “village” character of Peregian Village. The “Essence of Peregian” was
epitomised by the former Caravan Park, not by this Application which instead
seeks the “Essence of High Density Housing” and all the negatives which that
entails.
The Application fails to comply with the Noosa Town Plan. The Open Space
Recreation zone in Peregian Beach speci7ically seeks to protect and retain the site
for low cost visitor accommodation, re7lecting the site’s previous use as a
caravan park, with no support for permanent residents on the site. In direct
contravention of this, the Application proposes a high priced, high density
housing estate for permanent residents.
In addition, the accommodation of a large number of vehicles in the proposed
high density housing estate would further add to the congestion at the entrance
to the hardware store in Sandpiper Lane, the entrance to the IGA carpark, the
Sandpiper Lane/David Low Way intersection, the bus stop, the pedestrian
crossing, and the roundabout. The addition of this extra traf7ic would not only
create a further source of serious congestion but would increase the risk of
vehicle and pedestrian accidents.
I submit that the Council should therefore refuse the Application.
Yours sincerely,
Ian Odgers
