4.2.4 Vegetation in the Protected Plant 100 metre buffer
The majority of vegetation within the 100m buffer or CIA is classed as remnant and is subject to
the provisions of the flora survey (Appendix H). The 100m buffer provides protection from indirect
impacts such as changes to light penetration, hydrology or soil fertility that may influence the
vegetation community and any threatened flora species that occur within the IA.
The 100m buffer is predominantly remnant Scribbly gum woodland (RE 12.5.3) along with areas
of Melaleuca woodland (RE 12.3.5) with well-established infestations of Singapore daisy in the
understorey.
No threatened flora species were located during the timed meander surveys in the 100m buffer,
however three Special least concern species were found:
- Forked comb fern (Schizaea bifida, 3 specimens)
- Giant boat-lipped orchid (Cymbidium madidum, 17 specimens)
- Shepherd’s crook orchid (Geodorum densiflorum, 13 specimens)
The GPS locations and results of the timed meander flora surveys are summarised in Table 4.
The locations of the timed meander surveys are shown in Figure 1.
