Native Foresters
15. Consideration should be given to fauna sensitive road design so that fauna
sensitive design elements for Koala and other fauna species can be incorporated
into the design, given that the facility upgrade coincides with widening of the
Eumundi Noosa Road further to the north. Suitable safe fauna movement features
such as fencing, refuge poles, culvert furniture, fauna overpasses and underpasses
may be needed to ensure safe movement of Koalas and ensure that long term
dispersal routes for arboreal mammals are not impacted. The following documents
describe safe fauna movement design practices for Koala and other wildlife:

Main Roads Volume 2: Preferred Practices -

Biosecurity
16. The General Biosecurity Obligation (GBO) designated under the Biosecurity Act
2014 requires everyone to take all reasonable and practical steps to minimise the
risks associated with invasive species.
17. Control of Singapore Daisy and other Restricted Invasive Plants should be
incorporated into works as part of the GBO.
18. Any fill used must be free of weed propagules.
19. Control of Singapore daisy should be programmed to occur at least 6 weeks prior
to works, and timely follow up should be undertaken 3 weeks prior to works to
minimise potential spread during works.
20. All spoil, fill and vegetation contaminated with Singapore daisy fragments should
be appropriately disposed of and transported to landfill.
21. Felled living and dead trees that are not contaminated with Singapore Daisy
fragments should be retained and dispersed in adjacent bushland areas, or donated
to community revegetation projects to augment habitat value for reptiles and small
mammals.
22. Any fill, gravel, mulch or plants from Fire Ant Zones requires a Biosecurity
Instrument Permit (BIP).
