Noosa Council
PO Box 141

Dear Sir / Madam,
Forward Direction Car Egress – 14 Orealla Crescent, Sunrise Beach
I have been engaged by M&C Developments to address Council’s requirement for a car that is
parked at 14 Orealla Crescent, to be able to internally manoeuvre and exit the site in forward
gear. The following comments apply:
The existing crossover’s alignment, being obtuse angled relative to the north-west
approach and acute angled relative to the south-east approach, supports left-in forward
ingress and left-out reverse egress manoeuvres. The existing crossover’s alignment “is
angled and biased to traffic entering from and leaving towards the north-west” – in plain
English.
The existing dwelling has a north-east to south-west orientation. The front façade of the
dwelling is not parallel to Orealla Crescent. It is positioned at an angle relative to the
alignment of Orealla Crescent. The on-site uncovered parking area is at an angle relative
to the alignment of the site’s front boundary.
In order for a parked car to be able to turn around for forward direction egress, the
existing crossover and driveway will need to be deleted / demolished and replaced by a
5.0m wide crossover that is orientated perpendicular (at perfect 90-degrees) to the kerb
alignment of Orealla Crescent is required.
The reconfigured driveway will need to be split in a “Y” configuration, with the left leg
of the “Y” being a 3.5m wide turning area and the right leg of the “Y” being the balance
of driveway and uncovered parking area.
The recommended design allows a B99 car to enter from the north-west in forward gear, enter
from the south-east in forward gear, depart towards the north-west in forward gear and depart
towards the south-east in forward gear. This is shown in the attached AutoTURN swept path
plots. A B99 car, as opposed to a B85 car, is used given that the manoeuvres involve a public
road.
