areas will be clay capped. These bunded composting areas are to drain to coarse wet
Sediment Basins and then to Bioretention Basins.

3.2.2 Treatment Nodes

The “MUSIC Modelling Guidelines for South East Queensland” Version 1 prepared by Water
by Design and dated December 2010 have been used to set the rainfall runoff parameters
and pollutant export parameters for the site.

The land use types used for this model were “Commercial” and “Agricultural” and the values
in Table 3.7 and Table 3.8 of the guidelines have been used in this model.

The Bioretention Swale provided for Catchment F will be 0.6m wide at the base, 3m wide
overall and 86m long and will be vegetated with effective nutrient removal plants. The filter
depth will be 0.5m and the extended detention depth will be 0.0m. It has a 1% grade flowing
into adjacent grassed areas. The size of this system has been designed in accordance with
Plan 03.

Grass Swales are provided for Catchments C, G, GA, H, T, U and W. The Swales will be
0.1m wide at the base and 4m wide overall and will not be vegetated with effective nutrient
removal plants. The swales will be grassed and have 1% grades and will flow into adjacent
grassed areas.

The Bioretention Basins will treat the stormwater runoff from access roads, carparks,
Catchments K and N, and bunded composting areas. The Bioretention Basins will be:

    • For Catchment K and N will be 55m2 in area
    • The 70m long Bunded Composting Site Bioretention Basin will be 20m2.
    • The 120m+87m bunded composting area Bioretention Basin will be 50m2.
    • The treated runoff will then be directed to vegetated areas within the property. The
bio-retention component will remove the nutrients, heavy metals, and retard flow.

Vegetated Buffers are provided for Catchments A, B, D, E, I, L, M, O, P, Q, R, S, V, W1 and
X. Buffers will be 5m wide for the length of each catchment and flow from the catchments
will be sheet flow into the buffers.

Rainwater Tanks have been provided for the total roof catchments as shown on Plans No
1209-02 to 1209-04 and 09 to 11. 100% of the new eight sheds roof area of 1.39 hectares
will be connected to thirty two rainwater tanks. Each tank will have a capacity of 50,000
litres.

It is estimated by Inghams Queensland that in summer each shed will require 13,000 litres
for the cool shed pads cells and a average 9,819 litres for drinking water (ROSS Table 7)
i.e., 22,819 litres total daily use for 30,000 poultry (average shed size) therefore allow a
average 22,819 litres per shed per day. It is noted that sheds are not stocked all of the year
as there is a 2.5 week cleaning period after 7 weeks growing. As such the sheds are
stocked 71% of the year.
Therefore Total water requirements are:

    • 22,819 litres/shed/day x 8 sheds x 0.71=Total daily use of 130,394 litres.
    • Total monthly use of 3,955,293 litres.

                                                                                          18
