APPLICATION to Noosa Council for Secondary Driveway 21 September 2022 PROPERTY: 21 Myles Street, Tewantin Q 4565 Lot 1 on RP 151839 OWNERS and APPLICANTS: Peter and Valerie Hunnam We live at 21 Myles Street in a house constructed in 2013-14 with the main driveway access to Ada Street. We have been advised recently by Council officers that we should apply for a “secondary driveway” to our property, from Myles Street. We have consulted the following documents to make a Development Application for a driveway or crossover : * Noosa Council FACT SHEET... on construction and maintenance of a compliant Vehicle Crossover on Council Controlled Land * IPW standard drawings RS-049 and RS-050 for Residential Driveways * QG DA forms guide: Relevant plans (2017) These suggest that we need to apply for a Non-standard Driveway Crossover using DA Form 1, because: a. It would NOT be the only crossover to this property and b. It is in an urban area but NOT constructed from concrete or similar. Please find attached our application DA Form 1 completed as fully as we are able, although we note that it does not seem a suitable form for what we are requesting. Background information: 1. REFER to attached Plan 2012 0626 SURVEY 2946AA.pdf * The original sub-division created a double-sized block of 1500 m2, extending from Myles St to Ada St. It is 85 metres long, but only 17m wide at Myles St end, 30m wide at Ada St end, including a 6m wide section for the entrance from Ada St. * The property was built originally with three driveways, because of the way the property was used, as the main store and workshop facility for the House of Bottles ‘museum’ on adjacent block (no.19). * The two Myles Street entrances were used to access the original house driveway and carport. The third entrance on Ada St was used to access the large workshop and garage/ boat shed built at the Ada St end of the block. 2. REFER to attached scans of BA: 20124767 approved plan: 21 Myles St East driveway.pdf and 21 Myles St West end.pdf * When the property was redeveloped in 2013-14, the large shed and garages were replaced by a new house and carport, using the Ada St driveway. The old house and carport were demolished, and the two gravel crossovers and kerb recesses to Myles Street were retained but grassed over as part of the landscaping. * We use the Ada St entrance for our main vehicle access to the house, carport and lower garden, and we use the Myles St ‘entrances’ for pedestrian and bike access to the property, weekly for putting bins out, and occasionally (a few times a year) for accessing the garden at the Myles St end with a car and trailer. * Because of the size and configuration of the property, we intend to keep these access arrangements – main driveway and vehicle access to-from Ada Street, and pedestrian and bike access across the road reserve/ nature strip on Myles Street. Given this situation, we request approval to continue to use the nature strip on Myles Street as it has been since 2013: for light traffic – regular foot and bike access and occasional vehicle access; and to not have to construct a concrete crossover over the nature strip to Myles Street. Yours sincerely, Peter and Valerie Hunnam Mobile: 0466 846110
