The proposed plans for the Noosa Springs Hotel disclose that a new parking bay and turning circle will be constructed at the lower Resort Drive entrance to Noosa Springs. This change to the existing entryway is designed to allow all manner of commercial vehicles to use this narrow residential street to access and service the proposed hotel. Apart from the unacceptable increase in traffic using this thoroughfare the other major concern will be the noise that these vehicles will make on entering, utilising and exiting this area. It is noteworthy that none of this traffic will access the front of the hotel using Links Drive.  Accordingly the peace and quiet of guests will be maintained at the expense of existing residents.

Along Resort Drive there are three unit blocks that form part of the Parkridge precinct. These units are largely owned by retirees who are seeking a peaceful lifestyle in their later years. Why should their domestic bliss be shattered by trucks and other such vehicles accessing the hotel at all times of the day and possibly night either making deliveries to, or disposing of refuse or soiled laundry generated by the hotel on a daily basis. These residents and ratepayers were not aware of this adverse impact on their amenity when purchasing these properties.

The noise generated will take all forms including:

+  brakes being applied

+  bins and other containers being lifted and dropped

+  beeping and shunting of trucks backing

+  trucks revving to climb the Resort Drive hill

Apart from the so called benefits the hotel will bring as expoused by the development group GHD and their adviser Starkey there is little to suggest a need for the hotel in the place earmarked for its construction.  The developers had the option to properly locate the hotel on acreage sold to Altum, the developers of Parkridge. Now that this opportunity has past, GHD is seeking to squeeze their hotel into the only remaining land in Noosa Springs which is not even properly zoned for this project.  In this endeavour they are giving scant attention to the concerns of Parkridge and Noosa Springs residents. As a result it is our way of life which is at risk.

Surely the Councilors can see through the developer's profit driven motives and decide in favour of the residents and their voters who live within these communities and not a foreign owned company.
