Hi Jarrod,

Further to our discussions last month please find attached detailed design for the driveway at 16 Myles Street Tewantin.
Can you please review and provide approval with respect to the cover and bridging detail over the sewer main. Note we
are hoping to avoid any lowering of the sewer manhole but that will depend on whether the verge grades are
acceptable to Council. Thanks Jarrod

I think it should have Unitywater approval. Send through design to me and I’ll attend to it.

Thanks Jarrod,

No connection application just driveway and footpath works. Do we need your sign off once the detailed design is
done? It is being submitted to Council for approval.

Hi doug

Yep. Spot on. Are these works associated with a connection application? Or is it just a driveway and footpath
augmentation?

Thanks Jarrod,

I have added what I think will be necessary in regards to piers – do you agree?

Hi Doug

I can confirm that the standard crossover will be fine with having a structural concrete path with concrete footings each
side of sewer to avoid any loading impact.

Any alteration to the Unitywater infrastructure like manhole lowering or connection moving etc needs to be applied
through the Unitywater Private works area.

Kind Regards

Subject: FW: 20651 - 16 Myles St, Tewantin - driveway

Hi Jarrod,

Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year. I am starting the year with a request for some advice. We have been
engaged to design a driveway for an existing vacant lot at 16 Myles St Tewantin. The verge profile is non compliant with
the footpath level approx. 400mm above the top of kerb. There is a sewer located in the verge that is only 1.3m deep. If
we were to construct a standard driveway profile across the verge then the cover over the sewer would be reduced to
540mm. We also looked at a non standard crossover (bridged crossover) that would improve the cover to 800mm which
we appreciate is still not complaint. Refer options drawing attached. Council have indicated that their preference is for
the driveway to be constructed to the standard profile so we need Unitywater approval for the reduced cover over the
sewer (540mm). Refer email trail below. Note that there is little opportunity to lower the sewer to improve the
situation. Can you please advise if Unitywater would accept the reduced cover in this location?

Thanks for your assistance.

Doug, the other relevant sections are not supportive of build outs or encroachments on to the road pavement
so your option 2 is preferred. There is a question regarding the existing street that is not indicated on the
design plans. Is your client considering seeking approval to remove the tree?

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

We have been engaged to design a driveway into an existing lot at 16 Myles Street, Tewantin. I understand the architect
Dale Webb from Rufous Design may have already had discussions with you about this. The site is very difficult as the
verge profile is non-compliant and the existing footpath resides approx. 400mm above the top of kerb. We have
produced the attached drawing showing the levels for a compliant driveway and for an alternative utilising a bridging
detail at the kerb based on a Gympie Regional Council standard drawing (also attached). As you can see with the
standard profile the cover over the sewer is compromised (less than UW requirements) and there is no way of lowering

                                                              5

the sewer to increase the cover. As such can you advise if Council would support the bridging option for the driveway.
Note that the neighbouring property to the north has a similar, albeit it poor, bridging access.
