Risks & Opportunities
It is important that the sound system of governance includes clear and consistent rules about the
management of meetings. The proposed new Standing Orders provide a logical framework for
the management of Council’s Ordinary, Special and Committee meetings.
The review our Standing Orders also provides an opportunity to improve our current processes to
include more opportunities for our community to engage in the process (e.g. public question time)
as well as more information being available about how they can engage.
Further, the recording of all Councillors votes at the decision-making meeting (i.e. Ordinary and
Special meetings) will place on the record for prosperity, how Councillors have voted when they
make their decisions at a Council Ordinary Meeting or Council Special Meeting.
