Risks & Opportunities
The legislative reforms by the State Government continue to improve local government across
Queensland.
There will be an opportunity for Councillors to learn more about the proposed changes in the
current Bill with training to be provided in due course in relation to the new conflict of interest
provisions.
There is still a degree of uncertainty about the subsequent raft of legislative changes that will
follow the current Bill. While the government has published generic information about their
intention, until the detailed legislation is seen, we will not know the extent of its impact on our
operations. Overall, based on the generic information published to date, our Council appears to
be well positioned to address any new obligations.
