I wish to lodge a strong objection to the proposal
to convert the property at 17 Russell Street
Noosaville to short-term accommodation for 48
people.
The development is totally inappropriate in a small residential street like Russell Street.
Apart from all other issues, the traffic implications alone should render the proposal totally
inappropriate in this location.
The proposed only has provision for five parking spaces which is totally inadequate for a
property with 48 residents, and there is nothing to stop the residents from parking in the street
anyway.
The addition of vehicles for 48 people (let's guess 15) will create havoc.
15 vehicles would would fill much of the available street parking.
Russell Street already has material parking problems during busy periods like school holidays
and summer weekends. If approved, this proposal will exacerbate the problem.
The recreational facilities at the northern (river) end of Russell Street are popular with locals and
tourists who already share the limited parking available.
It will also have an impact on visitors to the Council’s campsite in Russell Street.
The street parking is often utilized as a waiting bay for caravans which arrive before check in
time. Where are these large vehicles going to park now?
When leaving, many caravans also stop to perform a final check of their rigging.
The site also incorporates a popular boat ramp and the boat trailers often park in Russell Street.
The campsite, which I understand itself has a 10 pm noise curfew, could also be impacted noise
from this development.
The potential for noise in a quiet residential street is also a big concern.
It will also almost certainly have a negative impact on the value of all adjoining properties.
Russell Street already does its share of the heavy lifting in facilitating a very busy camping
ground.
Please reject this proposal.
