EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The 2014/15 Christmas Free Holiday Buses were conducted between 26 December 2014
and 4 January 2015 at a total cost of $67,904 (excl GST).

There were an estimated 43,146 passengers carried over the 10 day period. The estimated
cost per passenger during the 10-day period was $1.57.

The services included six bus services (5 existing TransLink services and a temporary
shuttle between Peregian Beach and Noosa Heads), Council Cabs and the Boreen Point-
Tewantin Flexilink service.

The Noosa Heads Lions Park was utilised as a paid car park for 13 of the 17 days (26
December – 11 January 2015). A total of 4,437 vehicles utilised the car park which
generated $44,370 with 60% of the parking revenue going to the Tewantin-Noosa Heads
Lions Club, the remaining 40% was used to fund traffic control and for the park
refurbishment.

RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Project Officer to the Infrastructure & Services
Committee Meeting dated 3 February 2015 providing an overview of the 2014/15 Christmas
Free Holiday Buses program.


REPORT
The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of the 2014/15 Christmas Free Holiday
Buses program (26 December 2014 - 4 January 2015).

1.                       Free Services

The following five Noosa-specific TransLink services were included:
•                      Route 626 – Tewantin to Sunrise Beach via Noosa Heads
•                      Route 627 – Tewantin to Sunshine Beach via Noosa Heads
•                      Route 628 – Noosa Parklands to Noosa Junction, via Noosa Civic
•                      Route 629 – Tewantin to Noosa Junction via Noosa Civic
•                      Route 632 – Noosa to Cooran via Cooroy and Pomona

Additional service:
•                      064 (1 bus) – Peregian Beach to Noosa Heads from 8am to 6pm
