REPORT
The purpose of this report is to seek Council approval for the implementation of the Go Noosa peak
period traffic management plan for the Queensland State School Christmas holiday period of 11
December 2021 – 23 January 2022 and the Queensland State School Easter Holiday period of 2 –
18 April 2022.

The Go Noosa peak period traffic management plan was first trialled in 2018 and has continued to
be used to manage peak period traffic congestion by aiming to reduce private vehicle traffic rather
than increase road capacity. The Go Noosa peak period traffic management plan initiatives are
aligned with the Noosa Transport Strategy principles and desired objectives.

1. Go Noosa peak period traffic management plan 2021/22

The proposed Go Noosa peak period traffic management plan includes:
 Free buses
 Park & Ride
 Variable Message Signs
 Traffic Control
 Paid Parking –- Noosa Heads Lions
 Wayfinding signage
 Parallel parking changes in Hastings Street
 Marketing.

2.1 Free Buses

a. Existing TransLink Services:
The following existing TransLink bus services are recommended for inclusion in the 2021/22
Go Noosa peak period traffic management plan:
 Route 626 – Tewantin to Sunrise Beach via Noosa Heads
 Route 627 – Tewantin to Sunshine Beach via Noosa Heads
 Route 628 – Noosa Parklands to Noosa Junction, via Noosa Civic
 Route 629 – Tewantin to Noosa Junction via Noosa Civic
 Route 632 – Noosa to Cooran via Cooroy and Pomona.
b. Additional Bus Services:
 064 – Peregian Beach to Noosa Heads shuttle bus from 8am to 6pm
Due to the TransLink ticketing system, the existing 620 bus service between Peregian
Beach and Noosa Heads is unable to accommodate free travel on the Noosa component
of the service. In order to offer a free service to residents and visitors between Peregian
Beach and Noosa Heads, the 064 additional bus service is recommended.
