Table 2 details the SPP Potential Bushfire Intensity classes and their corresponding potential fire-line intensity (kW/m) values as prescribed within Leonard et. al. 2017 and QFES 2019. Table 2 - Potential Bushfire Intensity classes The Potential Bushfire Intensity Class is primarily influenced by slope conditions (i.e., topography) and vegetation type fuel loads. 3.2 SPP Intensity Class Validation Based on observed conditions, the SPP mapping correctly maps VHC 8.1 as the applicable vegetation class on the site, however, neglects the narrow band of VHC 9.1 in the western site extent. The assigned high potential fire line intensity class is accurate for the VHC 8.1 area given the across slope conditions but is expected to be exaggerated for the VHC 9.1 area. Flamesol modelling was subsequently undertaken to validate the potential fire line intensity based on the point of reference slope conditions underlying the hazardous vegetation. Table 3 summarises the input data used: Table 3 – Input Data Input Parameter Input Data Type A – Forest AS 3959 Vegetation Type QFES Vegetation Hazard Classes and Fuel 8.1 Wet eucalypt tall open forest Loads (31 t/ha combined surface and 35 t/ha total fuels) 9.1 Moist to dry eucalypt open forests on coastal lowlands and ranges (21 t/ha combined surface and 24.2 t/ha total fuels) Effective slope(s) under the classified 1 degree all directions vegetation type Flame Width 100m all directions A QFES Forest Fire Danger Index (FFDI) 47 has been used as assigned by QFES (refer to Plate 6) © 2021 9
