GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 20 OCTOBER 2014

Previous Council Consideration

The former Noosa Council made a submission to the then Department of Primary Industries &
Fisheries for consideration in their 2007 review of the Qld East Coast Fin Fishery. This was due
to concerns over conflicting use between local and itinerant commercial net fishermen and other
users on the lower Noosa North Shore, as well as concerns over the sustainability of the Qld
East Coast Fin Fish Fishery resource.

Council passed a resolution on this matter (see below) and sought to work with the Department
to bring about closure of the lower Noosa North Shore to ocean beach net fishing to ensure the
long term sustainability and economic viability of these fisheries.

Council resolution 2/3/2006
