Fire should be excluded where possible from this vegetation community, however the community is capable
of accumulating fuel to between 18 – 27t/ha according to current State bushfire hazard methodology.

NC maps the entire coastal dune complex as an Environmental Protection Area.

Preserving the fragile nature of dune vegetation cover is a priority, that has to be balanced with safety to life
and property. The removal or reduction in adjacent available fuels must be accompanied by providing stable
groundcover protection with plants that do not become invasive weeds.
