Application details File No (Application Number) MCU14/0106 Postal address of Land (as advertised): Eenie Creek Road Noosaville Qld Nature of Proposed Development: Noosa Civic expansion 2. Submitter details Full name of Submitter Francis Rabi Email Address [email protected] Postal address 6 Shire Drive Suburb Noosaville State QLD Postcode 4566 Signature(s) N.B. This form has been designed for the convenience of the public, and any persons wishing to lodge a submission are not obliged to use this form. 3. Details of Submission I (We), make the following submission: I support the proposed development of Noosa Civic expansion due to the following; 1. As Noosa’s population is expanding (note new housing demand etc.) we lack the shopping facilities currently provided by, for example, Maroochydore Shopping and Business precinct. 2. In order to shop for items unavailable here, we must travel the long distance to Maroochydore and spend money in another Shire which is not beneficial to Noosa Shire 3. Residents currently incur further costs in fuel and pollution by having to travel long distances outside our region of Noosa. 4. Additional shopping facilities would provide locals jobs and career paths. 5. It is disappointing that even the Stage 3 Development of Civic was suppressed by a minor lobby group on self-interest grounds. Noosa Junction Traders should not feel threatened as some of those businesses ‘went under’ even without Stage 3 development, due to their businesses no longer being viable. Noosa Junction is also a ‘Tourist area’ which will always attract people into that area. 5. By having an enhanced Noosa Civic, I believe the larger number of people expected to be attracted to the area, can only benefit Noosa and the spill over would be expected to be to areas such as Noosa Junction and Hastings street, providing the prospect of more shoppers to those areas also. 6. We must consider what is best for the majority of our population, not just by trying to saisfy a few minority at a greater cost to the Noosa community overall. We cannot afford to prop-up non-viable Businesses. Lack of Development of Noosa Civic would leave us further behind in infrastructure and facilities.
