Dear Mark
We refer to Council’s Information Request dated 6 April 2022 and respond as follows:
Issue
The setback to the jetty from the prolongation of the side boundary is less
than the 3m described in the Waterways Works Code. It is apparent from the plans
that the proposed jetty is to be located between 2 existing timber piles with the
piles “trimmed” for the jetty. Council has no record of these additional piles
adjacent to the revetment wall.
1. We are unable to provide any additional information regarding the timber piles
that are adjacent to the revetment wall and located in the waterway. We have
checked with the current property owner who advised that the piles were in
position when they purchased the property. They believe they may have been
installed to assist with issues with the revetment wall but don’t have any
further details. We note that these piles are against the wall for a number of
properties in this area. We have modified the jetty walkway width to remove
the need to trim the timber piles.
2. The jetty walkway has been reduced to 1400mm wide so that it fits between
the timber piles without the need for them to be trimmed. The reduced
walkway width also moves the jetty so that it will be 3m from the side
boundary as required. A copy of the amended plans are attached.
3. We haven’t included a comment from the Engineer as no work will be done on
the existing timber piles.
