14.         GARDENS

14.1.       GENERAL SPECIFICATION
Samples
Supply soil sample testing reports as per soil section 18.1 in the frequency specified.

Supply 1 litre bag of each different soil type. Testing to include specific ingredient percentages, as specified
in AS 4419-2003: "Soils for landscaping and garden use" Table 1 on page 8 and "Documentation" on page
11.


14.2.       GARDEN PROFILES

 GA01: Garden Bed Profile – On Grade with organic mulch

 Mulch –100mm depth, ‘Medium’ grade, aged / composted hoop pine bark fines
 Soil A - 400mm depth ‘On Grade soil media A’
 Soil B - where trees are planted, 600mm depth ‘On Grade soil media B’
 Subgrade Preparation - Remove all existing weed material using glyphosate herbicide (to be applied minimum
 two weeks prior to lawn installation). Rip to 250mm depth. Where clay conditions are found, incorporate
 gypsum or clay breaker at the rate of 100g/m2

 Note: Soil types under D&C arrangement - compliant to relevant AS and codes.


 GA02: Garden Bed Profile – On Grade Revegetation

 Mulch – 50mm depth, ‘Medium’ grade, aged / composted hoop pine bark fines
 Soil - 200mm depth ‘On Grade soil media - Gardens’ Refer to Section – Soils, for test results criteria
 Subgrade Preparation - Remove all existing weed material using glyphosate herbicide (to be applied minimum
 two weeks prior to lawn installation). Rip to 250mm depth. Where clay conditions are found, incorporate
 gypsum or clay breaker at the rate of 100g/m2

 GA03: Garden Bed Profile – Mulch only – On Grade
 Mulch –100mm depth, ‘Medium’ grade, aged / composted "Forest Blend" (100 x 20mm max. particle size)
 Soil – existing

 Subgrade Preparation - Remove all existing weed material using glyphosate herbicide (to be applied minimum
 two weeks prior to lawn installation). Rip to 150mm depth. Where clay conditions are found, incorporate
 gypsum or clay breaker at the rate of 100g/m2
