Not Properly Made Submission (Late) MCU 12/0184 Notice of submission Julia Walkden
Subject: col BCS 1192 MCU 12/0184 Submission Julia Walkden From: Julia Walkden Date: 2013-06-13T00:46:12+00:00 To: Internet Mailbox Sunshine Coast Regional Council Dear Mr Lewis, Please consider the following late objection. I live at 423 Old Ceylon Road, Cooroy, and heard yesterday about the Development proposal for a poultry farm on Top Forestry Road. I understand that the rainfall estimates in the Development Application MCU 12/0184 are based on Tewantin rainfall, which can be very different from the Top Forestry area. We have monitored the rainfall in our area for several years, and over the last three years we have recorded several weather events that produced individual rainfall totals ranging from 102 to 240 mm at a time. This amount of rainfall would certainly result in hormone/antibiotic laden fertiliser from the poultry sheds into Blackfellow Creek and from there into the Mary River system, no matter how many bunds, swales, dams or whatever are constructed. With more extreme weather events and wetter weather forecasted for this area, approval of this project would mean deliberate pollution of our waterways. The consequences of these badly sited proposals now are well documented . This environmental accident-waiting-to-happen should not be approved. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Julia Walkden Tel: 5443 6776
