MCU14/0056 Acoustic report Att H - Information response
5.2 Assessment of Predictions
Predicted mixed-use noise levels as shown in Table 5.4 and Table 5.5 meet the nominated criteria
with the restriction of fuel deliveries during the daytime and evening and the construction of
acoustic barriers as presented in Figure 5.1. Mechanical plant is not predicted to exceed the
nominated criteria. However, additional analysis during the detailed design phase of the final plant
selection should be conducted to ensure limits are met for the car wash, fast food and service
station.
The following recommendations are made:
Construction of acoustic barriers as per Figure 5.1. The barriers should be solid and
continuous with negligible gaps and a minimum surface density of 12.5 kg/m 2.
Deliveries and refuse collection (including of fuel) should be during the daytime and evening
(7:00 am to 10:00 pm).
Mechanical plant for the purposes of assessment was assumed to determine a benchmark as
the mechanical plant for the proposed development is yet to be selected. It is proposed that
during the detailed stages of the project, an assessment of the mechanical plant noise
emissions from the car wash, fast food and service station be conducted using the actual
plant model selections and installation arrangements be made to ensure that the nominated
limits are met. Therefore noise limits are proposed to inform the selection of mechanical
plant for the development. Table 5.4 presents noise limits to be met at the nearest existing
sensitive receivers to the proposed development.
Carwash pumps and water treatment should be located within an enclosed building.
Carwash vacuums should be selected to be at or below the estimated sound power levels
nominated within Table 5.1. If the carwash vacuums are above this value then additional
acoustic mitigation (e.g. localised screening) may be required and would be determined with
a revised assessment.
Given that the site has sensitive and non-sensitive uses. It is important to prepare a noise
management plan for each of the onsite operations as well as an overall site management
plan. These plans are to facilitate the ongoing interaction of the different uses and ensure
that noise is managed in a cohesive manner.
