Arboricultural Assessment Report v1 NCES REF: J000742
Proposed Footpath – Elm St, Cooroy (Palm Lakes)

2 SURVEY METHODOLOGY

2.1 Field Survey
A site inspection was conducted on 7th December 2020. The assessment consisted of a ground
assessment using the methods described by Matheny & Clark and Ed Hayes guide to Evaluating
Tree Defects. The inspection was a Level 2 Basic Assessment (as per International Society of
Arboriculture Guidelines). All measurements are approximate.
Tree characteristics were noted in the field for tree species occurring within proximity of the footpath
which are likely to be affected by the proposed works. Tree characteristics were recorded using a
standard tree hazard evaluation form, whereby existing tree characteristics, tree health/structure,
existing site conditions and tree defects were recorded and later assessed against proposed works
within the TPZ of assessed trees. From this an overall hazard rating was prescribed and has been
used as the impetus for tree recommendations.
