Dear Mayor Wellington,
Re: Request for Cr Ingrid Jackson to Join NoosaCare’s Dementia Friendly Community Advisory A \
| Board ®»
| .
lam writing to formally request Cr Ingrid Jackson’s appointment as Councillor to the NoosaCare }
Dementia Friendly Community Advisory Board. y)
Noosa & the Sunshine Coast area has provided the opportunity to explore how well the community \ ns :
serves people with dementia and their families, and to develop an understanding as to how we can J
act together to improve opportunities and outcomes for these people. \y
The Sunshine Coast, recognised internationally as an engaged and accepting community makes an ~
ideal setting for an initiative that will make a ground-breaking positive impact on the communities
we serve. :
\
| As a result of the ageing population, the incidence of dementia in Australia is rising exponentially \)
and this is reflected in the Sunshine Coast communities. As a result it is important that we prepare \
all sectors in our community to address the challenges and provide a supportive environment for y
people with the dementia, their families, caregivers, employers, and community as a whole. )
The project that is currently being developed in this area aims to achieve this and it is considered mS 4
that an Advisory Board would enhance outcomes of such a project playing a central role in this i \4 ~~,
important work. Cr Ingrid Jackson’s experience and involvement in our community would make her a © ~)
valuable candidate to Advisory Board and we would like to extend an invitation to her to join the ~) \
board. \ \
X
We do hope that Cr Ingrid Jackson will be able to join our advisory board as we prepare our \
community for this pressing, critical community issue to address opportunities and meet the needs ¥
of people with dementia and be part of the dementia friendly movement on the Sunshine Coast. W
| thank you kindly for your consideration. q

incerely, ~™~
