3. Details of Submission

| make the following submission:
_.. 1. It is not good planning to plan two new service stations in such close proximity to each other.
2. The anticipated increase of traffic around the school will be very considerable and should be avoided.

3 Health risks to students and staff: There are any number of studies also on the internet that show that children exposed
to benzene and other hydrocarbons run the risks of various serious illnesses such as childhood leukemia.

4. The health of children with existing illnesses eg asthma and other respiratory disorders is compromised by the benzene
emissions resulting from a petrol station so close to the school’s swimming pool and other facilities.

5. In its policy statement the school asserts that it has a duty of care to ensure the safety and welfare of students from
known and reasonably foreseeable risks of harm. The school should therefore never have agreed to a petrol station.

6 | therefore submit that Noosa Council reject the proposed development of a service station on the above land.
