I'm writing to you to address the Noosa Springs Development and MCU21/0110.

We have been contacted by concerned Members of the Public who have expressed objections to this project. We've been asked to submit our comments as well. I've shared these thoughts with the Members of the Public who've contacted us.

Queensland Koala Crusaders, (QKC) is committed to the conservation, retention and restoration of habitat that provides food, shelter and dispersal opportunities for koalas and other native wildlife.  The destruction and fragmentation of mature native vegetation is always of concern to this organisation.   Each and every tree plays a vital role in addressing climate change and maintaining a balanced ecosystem.

QKC members have dedicated their own time and resources undertaking extensive replanting events that include koala food trees and other natives on private and public land and will continue to do so.  By joining forces with other like-minded organisations such as Koala Action Inc. we are increasing our ability to fund further rehabilitation and replanting projects.

Careful evaluation of the currently available data on koala populations including recorded sightings as well as rescue information in a 5km zone around Noosa Springs Drive area was undertaken. Members decided to include threats such as motor vehicle strike and domestic, feral and wild dog attack into the decision-making process.  Accordingly, QKC in consultation with our Policy Advisor, Vanda Grabowski determined evidence gathered to date did not support objecting to this MCU proposal at this time.
