Native Foresters
Biosecurity
15. The General Biosecurity Obligation (GBO) designated under the Biosecurity Act
2014 requires everyone to take all reasonable and practical steps to minimise the
risks associated with invasive species.
16. Control of Restricted Invasive Plants should be incorporated into works as part of
the GBO.
17. A Weed Management Plan to comply with the GBO should be prepared.
18. Extreme care should be taken to avoid introducing any new habitat-changing weeds
or RIPs that are not currently present at the site.
19. Machinery hygiene inspections and protocols are essential prior to the start of works
to avoid introducing aggressive weeds such as Singapore daisy (Sphagneticola
trilobata).
20. Ongoing management of non-native species is recommended to ensure long term
ecological integrity of the riparian vegetation within the impact area that connects
to surrounding high ecological value remnant vegetation.
21. Judicious use of frog-friendly herbicides is recommended for areas within proximity
to the waterway.
22. Any fill used must be free of weed propagules.
