MCU15/0082 PM Submission Support - Dr Ruth S Kerr
Subject: Ref: MCU15/0082 (From vacant land to community uses – Wellbeing type 2 – Social) From: Ruth Kerr Date: 2015-09-20T04:47:32+00:00 To: Mailbox Council Mail The Chief Executive Officer Noosa Shire Council PO Box 141 Tewantin Qld 4565 Dear Sir, Re: Vacant Land – Former Road Reserve at 17 Emerald Street, Cooroy I support the approval of the Development Permit Application No. MGU15/0082. I present the following reasons in support of the grant of the Development Permit: The Cooroy Noosa Genealogical and Historical Research Group Inc (CNGHRGI) is proposing a purpose built building in order to undertake its cultural, educational, research, social and other activities in accordance with its Constitution under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld). Such a purpose built construction will enhance the land and utilise it well. CNGHRGI focuses on local and family history research and publication. This facility will complement the Noosa Shire Council Library in Cooroy which does not have a local history facility (although it holds some local history materials). The CNGHRGI also services visitors to the region and is able through its experienced volunteers to provide a best practice service for family history research. The intended building and landscape will enhance and improve the surrounding area of Emerald Street, Cooroy. The Group attracts a membership of over 50s and fulfils a valuable need for social interaction and activities for those researching their ancestors. The quiet activities of the CNGHRGI will be contained within the proposed building. CNGHRGI is already a valued cultural and social group within the community. Yours sincerely, Dr Ruth S. Kerr Historian
