Dear Sir/Madam

Notification of Proposed NBN Telecommunications Facility Installation at Boreen Point
MCU13/0052 — Located at 153 Lake Flat Road, Boreen Point (Lot 2 on RP126723

In October, NBN Co advised they had lodged a Development Application with Sunshine Coast Regional
Council for a Fixed Wireless network facility at the northern end of the 106 ha property at 153 Lake Flat
Road, Boreen Point.

We also invited local residents to attend a Community Information Session on 24 October 2013 to find
out more about the proposed network facility, and the NBN Fixed Wireless broadband service for Boreen
Point and Cootharaba. ~

Following this informal consultation with the community, we are pleased to. advise that Formal Public
Notification in accordance with s297 of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 has now commenced for the
proposed facility at Boreen Point North (MCU13/0052) (Development Application at the northern end of
153 Lake Flat Road).

About the NBN

The National Broadband Network (NBN) is a high speed, open-access broadband network designed to ©

provide the communications infrastructure that will help better connect all Australian communities with an
increasingly online world. Within the next decade, the plan is for every home, school and workplace in
the country to have access to the network.

NBN Co is committed to delivering leading edge broadband services to all Australians by using the three
types of technology available — fixed line, fixed wireless and satellite, depending on location. As part of
the Fixed Wireless component of the Network, NBN Co is proposing to establish a series of radio
network base stations to provide high quality wireless broadband services to customers in the rural and
rural / urban fringe areas, including the Sunshine Coast Regional Council area.

Fixed, Wireless provides broadband services over the air by transmitting communications between from a
local radio network base station to an antenna and network box installed at homes and businesses. The
fixed number and set location of users within the Fixed Wireless footprint is-one of the determining factor
used to make data speeds and access to the broadband predictable and reliable.

About the Infrastructure Proposed for Boreen Point

At Boreen Point, NBN Co proposes to construct two new. facilities to service the Boreen Point and
Cootharaba areas. We are proposing two facilities because a single facility will not be able to: provide
service to’ both the village on the lake and the scattered rural residential houses to the north and north
west of the village.

The Boreen Point facility is designed to provide a service to the township, and the Boreen Point North
facility provides service to parts of Cootharaba. The Boreen Point North facility also acts as the key
transmission link for the Boreen Point facility and another facility further southwest at Cootharaba,
