EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report provides a recommendation for the appointment of the preferred contractor for the
Design and Construction of the Peregian Beach Digital Hub Building & Carpark.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Project Manager to the General Committee Meeting dated 13
March 2017 and award tender 1617T059 for Design and Construction of Peregian Beach Digital
Hub Building & Carpark to J Hutchinson Pty Ltd t/as Hutchinson Builders for the lump sum price of
$2,727,461 (excluding GST).
REPORT
The project is for the design and construction of a two storey 750m2 (approximately) digital hub
facility and associated carpark on Lot 253 & 255 on SP137431 on David Low Way at Peregian
Beach. The project is targeted at providing a leading class facility for a range of digital information
technology enterprises to operate from within the Noosa Shire.
Council has previously obtained a Material Change of Use (MCU) over the site and has completed
the preliminary architectural design and prepared performance based specifications for
mechanical, electrical, and information technology services.
This design and construct contract will complete the detailed design in line with Council’s
preliminary designs and performance based specifications, undertake all other associated design,
prepare and obtain all necessary approvals and construct the facility.
The contract works will be completed by 24 November 2017 as governed by State Government
grant funding.
1. Design
The digital hub building and carpark design along with the concept design of the open space and
future community centre was originally developed through extensive public consultation with the
Peregian community. The resultant design formed the basis of the Material Change of Use over
the site.
